Today Governor Josh Stein kicked off his rural listening session series. He met with business leaders, local elected officials, and other leaders to hear their concerns and discuss priorities for strengthening their communities. Governor Stein also stopped by Flavors on Main in Marion to meet with the owners and learn about their experience.
Today Governor Josh Stein shared guidance and developments on the state’s response to the severe weather impacting North Carolina. “As this storm moves across the state, North Carolinians should stay alert and be prepared to take cover if severe weather develops nearby,” said Governor Josh Stein. “Our State Emergency Response Team is activated, closely monitoring conditions, and ready to respond. Please keep your phones charged and nearby for any emergency alerts and be ready to take shelter if needed.”
Governor Josh Stein and state officials are asking all North Carolinians to prepare for severe weather because a rare Level 4 Moderate Risk has been issued by the National Weather Service. The primary threats with this storm system are damaging wind gusts of 74 mph or higher, large hail, and tornadoes.  
First Lady Anna Stein and Department of Adult Correction Secretary Leslie Cooley Dismukes hosted Oklahoma First Lady Sarah Stitt and North Dakota First Lady Kjersti Armstrong as they attended a driver’s license restoration clinic at Western Correctional Center for Women in Black Mountain and toured rehabilitative programs offered at the prison.

Today Governor Josh Stein joined 18 other Governors in signing a letter urging Congress to take back its authority on tariffs following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that the President does not have the ability to impose tariffs.  
Today Governor Josh Stein, President Pro Tem Phil Berger, and Speaker of the House Destin Hall announced the formation of a Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Education.“Excellent public schools create meaningful opportunity for every North Carolinian to succeed,” said Governor Josh Stein. “This commission represents a bipartisan commitment and an opportunity to make North Carolina’s public schools the best in the nation.”
Today Governor Josh Stein inducted 12 North Carolinians into The Order of the Long Leaf Pine for their contributions to the state. The award recognizes exemplary service to the state of North Carolina.
Today Governor Josh Stein called on the General Assembly to fast-track a $1.4 billion Critical Needs Budget focused on addressing North Carolina's most urgent needs while lawmakers continue work on a comprehensive state budget.
Today Governor Josh Stein joined tribal leaders and members from all eight of North Carolina’s state-recognized tribes and four Urban American Indian Organizations for the United Tribes of North Carolina's Annual Unity Conference.
