Governor Roy Cooper today announced eight more appointments to various state commissions and boards, including a new chair for the North Carolina Partnership for Children Board of Directors, which oversees Smart Start programs and services.

Governor Roy Cooper has appointed a new judge to preside over District Court in Vance and Warren counties. Benjamin Hunter will serve as a District Court Judge for Judicial District 9B in in Vance and Warren Counties.

Governor Roy Cooper today announced that the State of North Carolina is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of Deandre Patrick Gilbert and Tyler Christian Gilbert.

Joining other Governors, Mayors, colleges and universities, and businesses, Governor Cooper declared that North Carolina will continue efforts to reduce pollution in support of the global Paris Agreement.  

Governor Roy Cooper released the following statement on HB 589. The bill amends energy policy laws by reforming the Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act (PURPA), creating a bidding process for new renewable energy sources, and authorizing leasing of third-party owned solar developments.

Governor Roy Cooper has appointed a new judge to preside over Wake County District Court. “I’m pleased to appoint Sam Hamadani to the bench,” Gov. Cooper said. “Sam’s experience and leadership as a public defender are great assets to our court system.”
