Gov. Cooper Comment on Opioid Commission Final Report

Governor Roy Cooper, a member of the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, shared the following comment after the Commission voted unanimously to submit their final report to the President.

“The opioid crisis is real. People’s lives and our economy depend on strong and decisive action. In North Carolina, we have seen a 1000% increase in opioid-related deaths since 1999. The opioid epidemic has cost our country and our state too many lives already, and today, I voted to send the President a robust set of recommendations for action the federal government can take to combat this crisis.

Governor Cooper Announces 47 New Jobs at Advanced Superabrasives in Madison County

Advanced Superabrasives, Inc., a manufacturer of premium high performance grinding wheels and equipment, will expand operations at its existing facility in Mars Hill, creating 47 full-time jobs over four years, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $26 million in its expansion in Madison County.

$15 Million Program Available to Help Small Businesses Affected by Hurricane Matthew

Small businesses affected by Hurricane Matthew should apply now for $15 million in financing from the North Carolina Department of Commerce and nonprofit lenders, Governor Roy Cooper encouraged business owners today. The N.C. Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Small Business Recovery Assistance Program launched this week with a website and application information.
