Memo: Water Quality State Action Items

In June, Governor Cooper directed the state Department of Environmental Quality along with the state Department of Health and Human Services to launch an investigation into Chemours’ discharge of the compound known as GenX. Governor Cooper and his administration were successful in getting Chemours’ to stop the release of GenX. Since then, the level of GenX in the water has been trending downward and tests are ongoing to ensure the levels continue to move in that direction.  

Governor Cooper Announces 400 New Jobs as EGGER Wood Products Locates in Davidson County

EGGER Wood Products, one of Europe’s leading wood-based materials suppliers for the furniture, wood construction and flooring industries, has selected Davidson County as the location for the company’s first U.S. manufacturing plant. Governor Roy Cooper announced the company’s investment in Lexington earlier today.

Today, Governor Cooper vetoed House Bill 205, An Act to Amend Provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act Relating to Prisoners and to the Rebuttable Presumption Regarding Newsprint Employees; To Modernize Publication of Legal Advertisements and Notices; To Allow Guilford County and Any Municipality in Guilford County to Use Electronic Means to Provide Public Notice in Lieu of Publication; And to Allow Guilford County to Opt to Post Legal Advertisements and Notices on the County Web Site for a Fee with Monies Collected to Be Used for Local Supplements for Teacher Salary and Other County Needs.

Governor Cooper Urges EPA to Set Limits for Emerging Contaminant GenX

Federal officials must set limits for GenX and other emerging contaminants so that North Carolina can permanently control its discharge and ensure the safety of its drinking water, Governor Roy Cooper today told the U.S Environmental Protection Agency.
