U.S. Army Private First Class William “Hoover” Jones is lying in honor in the North Carolina State Capitol today for his service in the Korean War.

Governor Roy Cooper shared the following statement in honor of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion:
 

Governor Roy Cooper today released his recommended budget for 2019-2021, Investments for a Determined North Carolina. 

Today, Governor Roy Cooper joined leaders from the North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in the State Capitol’s Old House Chamber to sign a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve. 
 

North Carolina veterans now have new tools available to help them find jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today just ahead of Veterans Day and Employ a Veteran Week. 

Governor Cooper proclaimed Saturday, June 23 as Disabled American Veterans Day to honor North Carolina’s ill or injured veterans and the service of DAV members across North Carolina. Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a nonprofit charity that provides support for veterans across the nation.

Gov. Cooper today proclaimed June 14 to be the birthday of the U.S. Army in North Carolina, 243 years after the Second Continental Congress established the Army. Since the War for Independence, the U.S. Armed Forces have continued the tradition of securing our freedoms.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper welcomed military personnel to the Executive Mansion to honor Military Appreciation Month. Governor Cooper was joined by Secretary Larry Hall of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and First Lady Kristin Cooper.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper joined a group of military veterans, servicemembers, and their families at the State Capitol in Raleigh for a wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the sacrifices military veterans have made for our state and our country.

As part of Military Family Appreciation Month and leading up to the Veterans Day holiday, Governor Roy Cooper declared November 6-10, 2017 Employ a Veteran Week in North Carolina.
