Today Governor Josh Stein announced that AVL Manufacturing (AVL USA, Inc.) will establish a new production facility in Charlotte to build enclosures for industrial power generators, creating more than 325 jobs. The company will invest $56 million in Mecklenburg County.
Earlier this month, 20 people and two organizations representing 21 counties received the State of North Carolina’s highest award for volunteer service: the Governor’s Medallion Award. The award is presented annually by the N.C. Commission on Volunteerism & Community Service, or VolunteerNC.

Today Governor Stein announced that Walter L. Bowers, Jr., will join his team as Director of the Governor’s Charlotte Office.  “Pastor Bowers has a broad and rich understanding of our state’s largest city, and I look forward to his service connecting people with the support they need from their state government and making the region safer and stronger,” said Governor Josh Stein. 
Governor Josh Stein today announced an investment of $48 million in Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program projects to connect 14,514 households and businesses in 22 counties to high-speed internet.“Connecting all North Carolinians, especially in our rural areas, opens doors of opportunity,” said Governor Josh Stein. “I am proud to continue to bring high-speed internet access to all corners of our state.”
