Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Information Technology (DIT) and State Chief Information Officer Teena Piccione today announced she is stepping down from her role in state government to rejoin the private sector. Starting April 6, former DIT Deputy Secretary Nate Denny will return to the department to serve as Secretary.

The new headquarters of the American Airlines subsidiary that operates American Eagle is expected to bring 400 jobs to Mecklenburg County and support more than $228 million in economic output in North Carolina each year.

Governor Josh Stein and state officials are asking all North Carolinians to prepare for severe weather because a rare Level 4 Moderate Risk has been issued by the National Weather Service. The primary threats with this storm system are damaging wind gusts of 74 mph or higher, large hail, and tornadoes.
