Local Governments/School Boards
Local governments report to locally elected officials, not to the Governor. The following sources can help you find information about local governments.:
- The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners provides website and contact information for all county governments.
- The North Carolina League of Municipalities provides contact information for city and town governments.
Local ordinances are adopted and controlled by your town, county, or city. If you have concerns regarding an ordinance in your community, please contact your local officials. You can find contact information for county governments on the Association of County Commissioners website and contact information for town/city governments on the NC League of Municipalities website.
Local school systems are overseen by local school boards, whose members are directly elected by people in their community. If you have a problem, complaint, concern, or suggestion about your local school system, you should contact your local school board. You can find their contact information through the NC School Boards Association.
